Any animal impounded pursuant to the provisions of this chapter shall be impounded at the animal shelter, and shall become the property and responsibility of Summit County, Colorado, government after the animal has been impounded for five (5) days without being claimed. After such time the animal may be humanely euthanized in accordance with the established policies and practice of the animal shelter. For purposes of this section, a "day" means a twenty four (24) hour period beginning at time and day when the animal was taken into public custody. (Ord. 28, Series 2014)
